13. Ganesha and Celibacy

1. According to one school of thought Lord Ganesha is a celebrate. His celibacy is related to the story of Cat he played with during his childhood. 2. However, there any interpretation to Ganesha's celibacy - it is said that Goddess Parvati was the most beautiful, virtuous and perfect woman in entire existence. It is said that Lord Ganesha took a vow to marry a woman who could match his mother's superlative qualities. However, there no such woman who could match the divine qualities of Goddess Parvati and hence Ganesha remained unmarried.
